My daughter is near-sighted or myopia, around 400. Where can she get a near-sighted goggles or something else so that she does not need to wear eyeglasses during sparring?

Any advise on improving my martial arts training?

Roger Huerta UFC Fight Night 19 Walk-Out Shirt

First i’d like to thank anyone who will take the time to read this post. here is my deal, after years of neglect and making excuses for being out of shape i decided to start martial arts training. Four months ago i began practicing Choi li fut Kung fu (i’ve lost 26 pounds and counting) and i absolutely love it.

My "problem" is that i am no longer content with just getting a good work out. I truly aspire to be better, a "real" martial artist i guess you can say; and as such I am looking for ways to supplement my personal work outs so that they yield results in my MA training.

The areas i feel are my weakest are my flexibility, core strength and leg strength. i would like some advice on exercises, drills and work out routines that have an emphasis on martial arts and can help with my problem areas. I want to feel like i am still contributing to my kung fu training even on the days i cant make it to class.

Just to clarify, i am not looking to get stronger so i can beat someone up or run around trying to get into street fights. i want to condition myself so i can do my forms with perfect posture from start to finish, i want to be able to kick stronger, hold lower stances and overall just be better at the style i’ve chosen.

I would gladly take any input or advise from anyone’s personal experience and training regiments, as well as any good books on the matter anyone can suggest.

Finally my school also offers a tai chi program i have been thinking of checking out. Would Tai chi be a good supplement to my kung fu? or would it just result in trying to juggle too many things? once again thanks in advance for any responses i might get.

Can anyone with martial arts training relate to my problem?

Roger Huerta UFC Fight Night 19 Walk-Out Shirt

I’m 26 years old and have had about seven years of martial arts training and earned my black belt. I’ve never actually gotten in a real fight past the age of maybe 10, so I don’t know for sure how I would fare if I ever had to fight. I feel like I should probably be able to do well in a fight, given my training. BUT…. Whenever I happen to sort of play-fight with friends or anyone, I immediately realize that I feel like I don’t know what I’m doing. You’d think I’d have all these moves to pull on people who have had no fighting training. Yet, as I play-fight, I feel like I have no tricks up my sleeves what-so-ever and that my friends (who are all about my same size and have had no fighting training) are an even match for me.

Does anyone else with fighting training ever feel like this or do you always feel a distinctive edge over people if you ever play-fight or joke around at all with fighting? Is there something wrong with my training or something? I’ve had TONS of experience sparring.

Martial arts training didnt help in a real a situation i FROZE UP!?

Roger Huerta UFC Fight Night 19 Walk-Out Shirt

I am in my early twenties and have been with great interest and very keenly with my friends been practising boxing, judo and we are always horsing around sparring punching, perfecting techniques, talking about it and throwing one another!

the other day however i was in the shop queuing to make a purchase their was another shopper behind me who for some reason started to act very very aggressive against this woman.

I know race doesnt have much to do with it. The dude was tall, strong and black and very aggressive against this little woman shouting, swearing and saying how he "hates white honkeys" and how white women are now his @itches.

all the other shoppers just were looking on helplessly. This dude was right behind me. i completly froze like lockdown i couldnt move with fear, he barged me and punched the lady in the nose before running out of the shop and stealing the jacket he had.

Now why didnt my martial arts training prepare me for this, why didnt my body allow me to speak up for her and restraint this jerk? That night i cancelled going to dojo and instead considered burning my Gi and all my belts, boxing gloves. Thinking what a waste of time i am.

I know i probably sound like a coward what would you have done? Please be real would you have frozen with fear in a real situation and how could i prepare for it next time?

(please i am not a violent person looking for fights i only learn it for fun, exercise and self defence like this situation)
