are foam, training nunchucks ok to have in CA?

Roger Huerta UFC Fight Night 19 Walk-Out Shirt

i’ve read the Penal Code and laws regarding nunchucks in CA and i understand that possessing them in public can be punishable with prison.

but those are the actual wooden/steel nunchucks.

    what about simple foam nunchucks?

my best friend and i wanna get into shape by practicing martial arts. we are not a part of any gang or organized crime. we have no intentions to beat anyone with them, as we are certain we cannot kill anyone with a foam weapon of any kind. even with that in mind, we only want to use them to get into shape and spar with only one another. we intend to train and only use them within our own homes and backyards.

we really want to order a pair of these foam nunchucks, seen here:

    http://cgi.ebay.com/2-NUNCHUCKS-Karate-Nunchaku-Ninja-Practice-Bk-Wt-Foam_W0QQitemZ290325338144QQcmdZViewItemQQptZMartial_Arts_Equipment?hash=item4398bd1820&_trksid=p4634.c0.m14.l1262&_trkparms=|301%3A0|293%3A1|294%3A30

they’re foam-padded and rubber. no chains. the most we can think of them terrible is that they would be annoying to be hit by repeatedly. again, we don’t want to hurt anyone with them – only to practice with and work out with. it’s not necessary to practice martial arts with nunchucks, but they are something we want to try using.

help us out, please. if there is anyone out there who is a martial arts instructor who has trained others to use nunchucks under CA’s legal conditions who can answer this, please do.

    we would really appreciate it.
    thanks for reading.

What martial art should I take up?

Roger Huerta UFC Fight Night 19 Walk-Out Shirt

I’d like something that doesn’t require much close body contact for long periods of time, using speed more than strength and focuses on quick precision strikes. I’d rather practice on equipment than in actual fights, as it is more for defense and getting into shape. I’m around 5ft5.5 and a total beginner. I’d also like to not get beaten up too badly in the classes. Also, I don’t like the whole routine in Karate of breathing and striking air, I’d rather get straight into beating a bag. What type of martial art could you reccommend?
(A link to a site with descriptions and many types would be appreciated too, but isn’t vital.)
      Thanks!

(Ps. By not getting beaten up badly, I mean longer lasting damage, ie. Broken noses, lost teeth.)

Which martial art shall I choose?

Roger Huerta UFC Fight Night 19 Walk-Out Shirt

Hi, I’m thirteen and I want to start learning a martial art, the only problem is I don’t know which one I would like to learn. Here’s my criteria:
I would like to learn a cool martial art, it can use anything like sticks hands or swords.
It needs to be near where I am, Buckinghamshire.
I don’t really want a popular one that lots of people do like judo taekwondo or karate.
It can’t be too expensive so know £5000 equipment.
          Thanks allot!
          Sorry for my misspellings.
OK it seems I wasn’t specific enough so here we go:
I would prefer a martial art that is mainly for self defense in real life situations not for sport or fun, although it would be nice to do it as a Hobie an keep myself fit.
Another preference is for quick sharp strikes and no rolling around and putting people in holds.
As for a life commitment I would prefer a quick to learn kind of style where I can quickly learn the basics and then begin to progress gradually.
          Hope this helped!

Which format do you prefer classes to be run in?

Roger Huerta UFC Fight Night 19 Walk-Out Shirt

Camaraderie. As shown in many modern martial arts like bjj where everyone’s friends with each other, no lining up according to rank or bowing, you get to address instructors by their first name, no punishments if you do something incorrectly unless its really wrong and then you get expelled (but still no lecturing) , turning up in casual clothes is fine for most days and social events usaully involves alcoholic drinks and grilled food…

                    or

Formality as shown in many more traditional martial arts like karate and judo (e.g. no talking or joking around in class, bowing, wearing traditional clothing, learning some native terms used in the country the martial art was created, lots of push ups and sit ups if you refuse to listen, social event is usually sitting around a table talking about things like family etc)

Just a little survey. Not trying to diss one side or another. I personally prefer the formality over this idea of camaradie because I tend to focus better when everyone’s silent and because…well…I am kinda slack and if someone doesn’t literally stand behind me with a threat, then I don’t really do that well xP
