About navel rings and physical activity?
I’m a very active guy–I do martial arts (I do arnis–a Philippines martial art that uses sticks), stretching (I’m trying to learn splits), and a lot of weightlifting (I lift heavy). Now, I plan to get a navel ring as soon as I graduate this April. Are there any special precautions which I should take? Should I decrease physical activity or avoid certain ones? I also hold in my tummy to make my waist look slimmer–most of the time. I’m also pretty fond of body-hugging clothing and dancing. Some expert advice? Would appreciate some from athletic people who have navel rings. Thanks a lot!

What are some good workout routines for grapplers/judo players?
I do a martial art called shuai jiao which is similar to judo and involves lots of grappling. I’m a pretty fit guy, but I’ll be working with some extremely strong and well balanced people in about seven months. I want to get myself into peak physical condition when that time comes. What are some routines you guys find helpful? I’m thinking in terms of gym equipment.

What martial art should I take up?
I’d like something that doesn’t require much close body contact for long periods of time, using speed more than strength and focuses on quick precision strikes. I’d rather practice on equipment than in actual fights, as it is more for defense and getting into shape. I’m around 5ft5.5 and a total beginner. I’d also like to not get beaten up too badly in the classes. Also, I don’t like the whole routine in Karate of breathing and striking air, I’d rather get straight into beating a bag. What type of martial art could you reccommend?
(A link to a site with descriptions and many types would be appreciated too, but isn’t vital.)
Thanks!

(Ps. By not getting beaten up badly, I mean longer lasting damage, ie. Broken noses, lost teeth.)

Which martial art shall I choose?
Hi, I’m thirteen and I want to start learning a martial art, the only problem is I don’t know which one I would like to learn. Here’s my criteria:
I would like to learn a cool martial art, it can use anything like sticks hands or swords.
It needs to be near where I am, Buckinghamshire.
I don’t really want a popular one that lots of people do like judo taekwondo or karate.
It can’t be too expensive so know £5000 equipment.
Thanks allot!
Sorry for my misspellings.
OK it seems I wasn’t specific enough so here we go:
I would prefer a martial art that is mainly for self defense in real life situations not for sport or fun, although it would be nice to do it as a Hobie an keep myself fit.
Another preference is for quick sharp strikes and no rolling around and putting people in holds.
As for a life commitment I would prefer a quick to learn kind of style where I can quickly learn the basics and then begin to progress gradually.
Hope this helped!

Martial Art similar to the UFC (for a 13 year old)?
Hey guys,
I have began to watch martial art shows at a growing rate, which has made me myself want to have such an experience.
I am 13 years old and relatively big for my age (182cm 75kg), and I am really interested in becoming involved with a full contact martial art sport.
I already know that at my age nothing will be able to compare with anything I have seen on TV, and I also know that anything with strikes will involve a lot of safety equipment and training, However I am still interested.
In the past I have spent around two years fighting judo, eventually making it to state tournaments. However I eventually began to break away from the sport.
I am really looking for a sport that involves a lot of stand up fighting (or sparring), however If the sport involves both grapples and stand up then that we be great.
At the moment I have considered Muay Tai and Kick boxing, however I am open to anything.
Also, I live in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, so If anyone knows of any clubs around that are then that would be fantastic

Martial arts training: Does it build character, or does it reveal character?
One of the supposed benefits of training in a martial art – classical or modern – is that it builds or instills character traits such as: discipline, respect, integrity, etc. But I was wondering if it’s the other way around: that martial arts training reveals the practitioner’s character.
So, could it be that a long time martial artist does not become disciplined, but he/she sticks around for a long time because he/she is essentially a disciplined person, and can therefore better fit in – and even enjoy – the structured training regimen of the art? (Same thing for being honorable, respectful, etc.)
What do you think?
